How this funding will impact this organization:
Lincoln Foundation provides educational enrichment programs that help under-resourced youth overcome social and economic barriers to achievement. During the height of the COVID pandemic, many Scholars in the college readiness program had difficulty transitioning to college. Many college Scholars failed to take advantage of student support services and resources on and off campus.
Many of those under-resourced first year students were placed on academic probation or lost their scholarships, impacting their ability to continue past the first year. Lincoln Foundation created the College Transition Enrichment Program (CTEP) in response to these challenges. CTEP empowers Scholars to overcome obstacles to their success. Highly personalized support from the CTEP coach provides essential meetings between Scholars, academic advisors, tutors, and mental health professionals. Recent data indicate the average Scholar retention rate is 91%, compared to the state average of 77% for underrepresented minorities.
The first three years of CTEP overwhelmingly showed that the program helped students advance toward a degree. The Impact100 grant will allow CTEP to hire an additional counselor and expand from serving 160 college students to more than 300 for the next three years.
